5. Quotations and Contracts

5.1 Quotations

Any quotation provided by Country Drainage is valid for 30 days from the date of issue, unless otherwise stated. Quotations are subject to a site survey and may be revised if site conditions differ from those initially described.

5.2 Acceptance

A contract for services is formed when you accept our written quotation and we confirm acceptance in writing (including by email). We reserve the right to decline any work at our discretion.

5.3 Scope of Work

The scope of work is as set out in our written quotation. Any additional works requested during the project will be quoted separately and are subject to your written approval before commencement.

6. Payment Terms

  • Unless otherwise agreed in writing, payment is due upon completion of works.
  • We accept payment by bank transfer. Payment details will be provided on our invoice.
  • For larger projects, a deposit may be required before commencement, as specified in the quotation.
  • Late payments may incur interest at 8% above the Bank of England base rate per annum under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998.

7. Your Obligations

To enable us to carry out works effectively, you agree to:

  • Provide accurate information about site conditions and access requirements.
  • Ensure clear and safe access to the work area on the agreed date(s).
  • Notify us promptly of any changes that may affect the works.
  • Obtain any necessary consents, permissions, or notifications required for the works (e.g. from the Environment Agency, local authority, or neighbouring landowners), unless we have agreed in writing to do this on your behalf.

8. Regulatory Compliance

Septic tank and sewage treatment plant installations are subject to regulation by the Environment Agency and may require compliance with the General Binding Rules (GBRs) for small sewage discharges. We will advise you on the applicable requirements as part of our service. It is your responsibility as the property owner to ensure ongoing compliance with relevant environmental legislation.

9. Liability

9.1 Our Liability

We carry public liability insurance. Our liability to you for any loss or damage arising from our services is limited to the contract value, except in cases of death or personal injury caused by our negligence, which cannot be excluded by law.

9.2 Exclusions

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we exclude all liability for:

  • Loss or damage arising from inaccurate information provided by you.
  • Pre-existing defects or conditions not disclosed to us prior to commencement.
  • Damage caused by acts of third parties or events outside our reasonable control.
  • Indirect or consequential losses.

9.3 Website Liability

We shall not be liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or inability to use, this website or any content on it.

10. Defects and Warranties

We warrant that our installation work will be carried out with reasonable skill and care. If you identify any defect in our workmanship within 12 months of completion of works, please notify us in writing and we will investigate and, where appropriate, rectify the defect at no additional cost. This warranty does not cover defects arising from misuse, neglect, or unauthorised modifications.

Equipment and products supplied by us are subject to the manufacturer’s warranty terms.

11. Cancellation

If you wish to cancel a confirmed booking, please notify us in writing as soon as possible. Cancellation charges may apply as follows:

  • More than 7 days’ notice: no charge (deposit refundable, less any costs already incurred).
  • Less than 7 days’ notice: up to 25% of the contract value may be charged to cover mobilisation costs.
  • Less than 48 hours’ notice or same-day cancellation: up to 50% of the contract value may be charged.

12. Intellectual Property

All content on this website, including text, images, logos, and graphics, is the property of Country Drainage / Ward Environmental Services or its licensors and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, or otherwise use any content without our prior written consent, except as permitted by law.
